Wow, I can’t believe that I’ve done 30 of these already!

I should throw myself a party! How pathetic would that be?

We are still in the Disney Renaissance and are taking a look at arguably, the best film in the Disney Renaissance. This film was a massive hit, both critically and commercially! This film received a standing ovation at the New York Film Festival! This film was the first animated film to be nominated for the “Best Picture” award at the Oscars! This film is my favorite animated Disney Canon film! This film is my favorite animated Disney film! This film is my favorite Disney film! This film is my favorite animated film! And this film is one of my favorite films in general!

Please welcome “Beauty and the Beast”!

Released in 1991, this film and its story are so injected into the culture of the people that I don’t think that I really need to explain the plot to you all. But since I love this movie so much,

Did I mention that this is my favorite Disney movie?

Did I mention that this is my favorite Disney movie?

I don’t mind explaining it at all! The film is about a selfish, arrogant prince who’s transformed into a hideous beast as a punishment for his hatred and arrogance. The only way for him to revert back into a human is for a human girl to fall in love with him before a certain magical rose loses all its petals. If he fails, he will remain a hideous beast forever!

Disney's going dark! And this is the first time I noticed that scary face at the right!

Wow, Disney’s going dark! And this is the first time I noticed that scary face at the right!

And the curse isn’t just on him alone! All the workers in the castle are transformed into inanimate objects. Other characters include Lumiere the candelabra,

Cogsworth the clock,

You can say that he has a screw loose!

You can say that he has a screw loose…or you can even argue that he as screw on too tight!

Mrs. Potts and her son Chip,

So...if Chip is a teacup, he doesn't really have a head, so would the tea be his brains? And if you drank all the tea, would he be dead since he would have no brains left? Am I overthinking this?

and a cranky stove!

I want one of these! It's the closest thing to an automatic robotic stove!

Now let’s talk about the human characters of this film. We have the heroine who has to fall in love with the Beast, Belle,

Am I the only one who thinks that Belle looks so weird and different in the second picture?

the vain antagonist, Gaston,

Many a girl's fictional crush...I think....possibly...well, maybe many won't admit it!

his sidekick, Lefou,

"Question: What happens to me exactly after the movie is finished?"

and Belle’s father, “Crazy Old” Maurice!

Reminds me of an owl...a cuddly, lovable owl!

And each of them are extremely memorable!

But, the forgotten/minor character for today is probably the most important character of the film, and that is the beautiful enchantress at the beginning of the film. She’s the one who seeks shelter in the castle and is snubbed by the prince. For this, she punishes him by transforming him into a hideous beast and for him to remain in that state until someone would fall in love with him.

And she’s never mentioned again after that! You never hear the Beast and/or the characters mention her; but they do mention the curse itself! And where is she for the rest of the film? Does she even find out when the curse is broken? Why doesn’t she acknowledge it?

"I have no time for such nonsense!"

“I have no time for such nonsense!”

One thing I liked about the weak film, “Beastly”, was that they actually showed the “enchantress” of that film smiling when the “Beast” learns his lessons and she transforms the “Beast” back into the “hot, sexy, teenage heartthrob” that he was.

Come on, is this really how one would imagine the Beast to look like in human form?

It’s like the enchantress just got up and left at the beginning of the film! And yet, she’s the character that caused such a film to exist! If she wasn’t there, there would be no film, hence I would have a DIFFERENT favorite animated Disney Canon film!

"I wouldn't care!"

“I wouldn’t care!”

Because of her importance, I’m giving her the title of forgotten/minor character of this film!
