Hey all,

Call me “Mark Brown”! It’s a blog pseudonym I use that doubles as a tribute to the author of Arthur! I am a huge animation fanatic! I love all animated movies, with a strong bias towards Disney films! As such, I created this blog, The Animation Commendation, to share my love of these creations with others who appreciate them as well! I also have a second blog, My Live Action Disney Project, wherein I review live-action Disney movies.

I hope you enjoy your time here and please feel free to like my posts, leave comments, and subscribe to my blog. If you want to contact me, please fill out the contact form below!

  1. Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog:)
Btw, I really really really love animated movies too and I also think that movies with real people in them are….(in simpler and non-vulgar terms) totally booooriiing as they lack the kick that animated movies have:)

    1. Salaams (I’m a Muslim btw),
It’s great to meet another animated film fan πŸ™‚ ! I love some live-action films; but my passion lies in my animated movies, lol! I also love your blog, because it helps me to remember Allah (swt) especially when I’m on this blogging site. And your blog is a wonderful reminder to us all! Feel free to visit my blog whenever!

      1. Sadly, most movies with real people in them also contains lots of ma’siyyah in the form of sinful acts eg.clubbing, kissing, not to mention the revealing attire of the actors and actresses..
So yeah, that’s another reason while I like animated movies:)
        Salaam(Glad to know that you’re a Muslim!)

      1. No problem, and I agree with on that. (I never liked the Jesus jokes either.) I know this on person on youtube who used to make “clean versions” of his reviews; the only problem was that they cut entire scenes :/

      2. Hmmm, maybe not. I’m looking at his channel right now and it doesn’t seem familiar. πŸ˜€ Guess I’ll be checking his videos out (lol)!

  2. I think this is one of my new fav blogs. I love animated movies! I try to watch as many as possible, no matter how bad ! I Would be interested in using some of your “forgotten character” suggestions in my nail posts. Ill let you know when I do πŸ™‚

  3. I love this blog so far. Disney cartoon movies are so fabulous it’s a shame they’re rarely making them anymore. My favorite, and my favorite movie of all time, is The Lion King.

  4. I was introduced to your blog not long ago by the Unshaved Mouse himself, and I have to say your blog is really awesome! I’m a pretty big fan of your Forgotten Characters series and top 13 lists! I hope you keep doing them in the future! πŸ™‚

PS: This is Zeussy. Y’know, the guy that made like one or two posts on your Forgotten Characters post on The Hunchback of Notre Dame (my #1 favorite Disney movie). lol

    1. Oh yes, I remember you Zeussy! Cool new name!

I love hearing when people love my “Forgotten Characters” series and “Top 13” lists! It makes me proud that my writing isn’t done for naught, lol!

It saddens me that my “Forgotten Characters” series is nearing its end 😦 , but then again, there is that surprise coming up soon πŸ˜‰ !

      1. Thank you! πŸ™‚ The name Ophiuchus comes from a constellation and the 13-zodiac sign that is only used in Japanese astrology (I think).

Can I guess what one of the words could be for the surprise? I really want to email you about it! πŸ˜‰

  5. Thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚ You have a wonderful blog here. And, yes, I am a big fan of animated films too. But oh, if only wee could find good prints of the old classics such as Bambi and Dumbo. I will surely keep coming back here.

    1. Do you live outside the USA/UK? Because there are extremely good prints of films such as “Bambi” and “Dumbo” that can be found anywhere, amazon.com, for one.

I am a fan of Bollywood films myself, because it’s part of my culture. But I grew up with many of the older films, so that’s why I actually know who Pran is!

      1. Yes, Mark. I live in India. And unfortunately it isn’t as easy to find good prints of those films here. I’m sure there must be a way, though.

  6. So, I finally had some time on m hands and got to check out ur blog completely and its amazing! Great job.. Keep it coming. Thanks for being my 100th post btw πŸ™‚

  7. I happened to come across your blog. Looks very cool and engaging with a wide audience.

Please let me intro. myself. We are very fortunate that Malcolm has attached himself to our upcoming film BEREAVE and he loves it so much that we are doing a #Kickstarter campaign where he is personally involved in awesome perk fulfillment. So far we have sold some great perks like dinner w/ Malcolm, premiere & party, download of completed film, roles in the film, days on set and more! We are at $38,000 with 16 days to go, but need to reach $100,000. It’s doable! But we need to get the word out, let the world know it is happening; reach his fans. Press is brutal and very stingy. So we’re going grass roots with it. Do you think you could post a little something on your blog if you like what you see? Please let us know. We would be extremely grateful to you! Here is a link to our campaign: http://kck.st/15oAyoa

As you may or may not know, Kickstarter is an all or nothing platform for crowd funding. If the campaign does not hit its goal, the backer is not charged anything. If we do hit our goal, the backers make history and produce our wonderful drama/romance starring Malcolm McDowell, Neve Campbell & JJ Feild.

    Thanks!

  8. Very nice work on your blog here – keep up the great work! Although Disney films aren’t my favorites. I had to leave a new comment since I deleted my old blog.

  9. Hi fellow Disney fan!

I love your blog, and I especially enjoyed the minor characters series that you made. The Top 13 lists were interesting as well, and I hope you could do a couple more of those. I have many Top 8 lists about Disney as well; you can view them on my blog! I write about Disney and musical theatre, more on the latter but if you want a figure I’d say 60% musical theatre and 40% Disney (there are posts which belong to both after all).

    1. Thanks for following me and I’ll definitely follow you! It’s always awesome to follow Disney lovers! And I love musical theater…even though I’ve never actually seen a play before, lol.

Glad you like my character series and Top 13 lists. I need to do another list soon sometime.

  10. As one of my friends who has a blog and enjoys Disney, I wanted to let you know I’m starting a new blog hop that will happen on Thursday. It’s a throwback Thursday hop, and this month’s topic is the Magic Kingdom. Information is in the link, and I’ll create a post on Wednesday specific for this month’s blog hop. But I wanted to try and get the word out now – I hope you’ll join us! Feel free to let others know that might be interested as well!

  11. Assalamu aleikum brother, do you follow the tv series ‘Once Upon A Time’? If yes, what do you think of the Disney characters and the knack of writers of the show?

    1. Walaikumussalam,

And yes, I do follow the show and am a fan of it (although I’m like 3 episodes behind right now, lol)!

The general idea of having fairy tale characters living together in a modern world and working with each other is quite impressive. The problem that I have with the writing though is that it seems to be more of a Disney fanfiction than just about fairy tale characters.

For example, adding characters like Merida (from Pixar’s Brave) in the show has nothing to do with fairy tales and is only there to bring the Pixar character in!

I also have a problem that in the beginning they promised fairy tale characters, but we’ve since got novel characters (Frankenstein, The Wicked Witch), nursery rhyme characters (Bo-Peep), and real life figures (Blackbeard) involved.

So if the show wasn’t so Disney-centric, I feel the writing would be better, but since it’s Disney-centric, it just feels like a Disney fanfiction set to please fanboys and fangirls for the most part.

      What do you think?

  12. Been really enjoying your blog since I came to notice it while going through Disney and Beyond’s blog. Speaking of which, it’s been a few months or so since his last update. I am well aware of the fact that he must be incredibly busy with his job or whatever life is throwing at him. Shame really because he was nearly done with his list and I am still debating as to which film could possibly be his number one pick and for that manner why. Well, I suppose all I can do at this point is just wait and check back up on this blog in the meantime, right?

  13. I’m looking forward to checking out your blog more closely! I love animated films, and grew up with the “real” Disney classics (I still think of “The Aristocats” as a new Disney film). My brother, sister and I played the soundtrack of “The Jungle Book” so often my mom hid the album. Can’t wait to check this out!

      1. Hey, The Aristocats thing is just one more way I know the calendar is right and I really can’t call myself young anymore! But I do love the Disney films, then and now.
