My Thoughts: THE WIND RISES (2013)

The Wind Rises was a Studio Ghibli film that I’ve wanted to see for a long time, but due to various circumstances, I wasn’t able to see it until last week. I had heard great things about it: It was a Studio Ghibli film inspired by true events rather than something fantastical, it was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars (with many people thinking it should have won the award instead of Frozen), and it was going to be Hayao Miyazaki’s last film ever as he was retiring!

Well, so much for that plan!
Well, so much for that plan!

So, did I end up enjoying this film and thinking it’s amazing as everyone says it is? Well, let’s take a look! (By the way, I watched the English dub of the film.)

Upcoming Animated Films in 2014

2014

Well, 2013 is about to come to an end, so you know what that means!

"I think it means that it's time for us to look back at our year and see what progress we have made, learn from our mistakes, make amends for whatever wrongs we have committed, ..."
“I think it means that it’s time for us to look back on this year and see what progress we have made, learn from our mistakes, make amends for whatever wrongs we have committed, …”

No, it means that I’m going on vacation!

"Huh...that was totally not what I was thinking!"
“Huh…that was totally not what I was thinking!”

Yep, I’m gonna be gone for about a week, so I thought that I should leave you all with something before I go. And what better thing to leave you with than a preview of what next year has to offer in animated films!

So sit back and relax while we take a look at the animated full-length theatrical films that shall be released next year complete with synopses (if available), trailers/posters (if available), and American release dates (if available). I hope you all enjoy! Continue reading “Upcoming Animated Films in 2014”

Wow! Just, wow! How could I have forgotten how awesome this movie was?! Wow! I wish I’d have re-watched it sooner, because it definitely would have made its way on the list of my top 13 favorite Disney Canon films!

Sorry, “Meet the Robinsons”, you’re the weakest link! Goodbye!

My Thoughts: FRANKENWEENIE (2012)

Tim Burton movies are always…well, most of the time…enjoyable!

"They call me Tim Most-Of-The-Time-Enjoyable Burton!"
“They call me Tim Most-Of-The-Time-Enjoyable Burton!”

And this is no exception! It’s a wonderfully made stop-motion animated remake of an earlier short of the same name directed by Tim Burton.

I had completely forgotten that it was a live-action short!
I had completely forgotten that it was a live-action short!

The film received positive reviews, critical praise, and was even nominated for the “Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film”! And now, I have something very controversial to say! Continue reading “My Thoughts: FRANKENWEENIE (2012)”

My Thoughts: MADAGASCAR 3: EUROPE’S MOST WANTED (2012)

madagascar 3

So I’ve finally seen this film that (hopefully) ends the “Madagascar” franchise with a trilogy! I was never a fan of the “Madagascar”¬†franchise and never thought much of the other two movies! So the fact that I actually LIKE this movie is somewhat of a shocker! And although I do like it, I also think that it’s not a great movie nor is it perfect. So with that in mind, let’s take a deeper look into this movie and my thoughts regarding it. Continue reading “My Thoughts: MADAGASCAR 3: EUROPE’S MOST WANTED (2012)”

My Thoughts: THE PEBBLE AND THE PENGUIN (1995)

Goodness Glaciers! Another Don Bluth film?! Yes, but it should be the last one for a while. Released in 1995, the film was panned by the critics and wasn’t a box office hit. It featured the voices of Martin Short, James Belushi, and Tim Curry among others; but that wasn’t enough to make the film a hit! Now, is this film as bad as people and critics make it out to be? Honestly, I don’t think so! But then again, after you watch “A Troll in Central Park”, anything else seems like a masterpiece! Anyway, let’s take a look at this animated flop! SPOILERS ALERT!
